In the civilization that gave her birth, Cara had been taught that women were to be cherished, protected and respected. Under the watchful gaze of a gentle Goddess she would be free to choose a mate or not, work a craft and never know a worry. Or so she thought. Where there is a Goddess there is also a God, a Dark Lord whose teachings had left his followers feared and outlawed, destroyed by those loyal to the Goddess. Betrayed by one she thought to be a friend Cara is captured and sold to Lord Gavin, one of the Dark Lord's followers. To him women are beasts, and females are to be taught to serve their owners, their husbands, or any man strong enough to bring them to their knees. Gavin thinks nothing of introducing women to chains, whips, and complete and utter bondage as he breaks them into their rightful place at the feet of men and Cara has been chosen to be his slave and wife, the mother of his children? But Cara has unsuspected strengths, and what Gavin thought would be a easy task develops into a battle of the wills, in which both parties discover they just may be falling in love.
