When she meets James online she is only searching for friendship and a break from the devastating loneliness that grips her life. Bound by Fate is an erotic treat, well written with memorable characters, a good plot, and a lot of very adult content. It explores a mature and very loving relationship in the life of an older couple discovering the liberation the world of master and slave can deliver. Annie and James truly find themselves bound by a fate neither would have imagined, and yet the gulf between them needs to be breached before they can decide whether they are prepared, and can actually be permanently Bound by Fate.

I was a little uncertain about this story, expecting it perhaps to be simply a shallow accounting of an online relationship. However, I was quite pleasantly surprised; the author does an excellent job of delving into the ramifications of the BDSM lifestyle, and explores that very well both in the cyber-scene segments, and in several "real time" opportunities between the two protagonists. They are well-realised personalities. With the caution that some readers might find the BDSM nature of the novel offensive, I recommend this one.
