"How about you focus on finding a way to get Shea back in your life and not about my dating habits? When I'm ready to settle down you'll know it, and so will she." Josh waved at him, and then ran back down the track in the direction they came from.

Once Josh's voice finally left his head, Craig let his mind wander back to all the fun he had with Shea when they weren't at each other's throats. He never experienced that much pleasure on a date before without sex being involved. She wasn't helpless and didn't need his help at every turn. A small part of him had been disappointed at how capable she seemed of handling every situation she was in.

Shea would never be able to keep anything from him, because one look at her face and he knew what she was thinking. It had only been twenty-four hours and he was already missing her terribly. It was like a caffeine addict going through withdrawals. Nevertheless, he had no intentions of giving up his addiction. Shea had to talk to him and he wasn't giving up until he made it happen.

Getting off the grass, Craig brushed off the back of his running shorts, and as he turned to leave a flash of red by the pond caught his attention. Shea!He couldn't believe his good luck.

"I'm not allowing her to leave until she hears me out," Craig swore as he hurried towards the other end of the park. She should have known that he wasn't going to let her blow him off like that. * * * * "Are you sure I only have a month to make another bid on the place? I thought I had at least eight more weeks to come up with half. Pierre, you know I can't come up with that amount. I'm not going to lose that house. You've to help me think of something."

Sitting on the bench, Shea cradled the phone against her shoulder and pulled out the bag of breadcrumbs for the ducks from her purse. "Can't you hold them off for me? I'll have the money by the end of January. Wanda promised me a raise and with the money I already have saved it that should be enough."

"Honey, these buyers are serious about the spot. They want it for a miniature golf course, however you might get lucky. The other buyers are going overseas for two months to close down their other business.

They're going to make a bid for the property when they get back, and if I'm right they should return around the first week of January."

"Can you lose their paperwork until then, and that will give me extra time to get all the money. I want that spot. It took me over two years to find it and I've worked long hours to save up for it. I only need a little more time."

Shea heard Pierre's deep sigh in her ear, and that meant things weren't looking good for her. "I can't make you any promises, but I'll show them two more places that are closer to town. Maybe one of them will catch their eye," Pierre replied. "But I'm going to be honest with you, this corporation really adored that area you have your heart set on."

"Just do what you can." Shea knew she was fighting a losing battle, but she wasn't ready to give up just quite yet. "Okay, I'll talk to you later, Shea." "Thanks, Pierre, and I'll call you back tonight." "I won't be home until at least eight o'clock," Pierre said. "Bye, Shea." "I'll call you then, bye, Pierre," Shea hung up the phone and flung it into her purse. Opening the bag of crumbs, Shea pitched several handfuls to the greedy ducks that surrounded her feet looking for a free, fattening meal. She envied how they didn't have a care in the world. She longed for her life to be as simple. For the first time, she wondered why she couldn't have been born lucky, or at least wealthy.

"Is Pierre the man you dumped me for yesterday?" a rough-edged, strong male voice demanded behind her, causing her heart to jump up in her throat. "Why didn't you tell me about him when I brought it up?"

"With us just being friends you don't have any claim on me," Shea replied above the pounding of her heart. She couldn't look back at Craig or she'd get lost in those impious eyes she loved staring into so much.

"I need to talk to you about that." Coming around the bench, Craig scared away the ducks as he stood in front of her.

Her mouth went slack then dry at the sight of Craig's sweat-covered chest and rippled abs blocking her view. A pair of black trunks molded his hairy, muscular thighs and her gaze went up to the impressive bulge nested between his slightly spread legs.
